Biography

Victor de Rut

Born in Štip, Macedonia, and now based in Norway, Victor de Rut is a guitarist with a diverse musical background, blending classical guitar with flamenco, jazz, and Balkan folk influences.

Inspired by his father, a self-taught guitarist, Victor developed an early passion for the instrument.
He began learning classical guitar at the age of eight, studying formally at Štip’s High School of Music and later at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje, Macedonia.
Throughout his early years, he performed at competitions and concerts, earning recognition from both audiences and mentors.

His musical journey has led him through various styles and collaborations—from classical ensembles and pop bands to flamenco and jazz fusion projects.
Over time, he also incorporated singing into his performances, expanding his artistic expression.

After completing his studies, Victor moved to Norway to reach a broader audience.
His music has since been well received, leading to performances in Norway, Spain, Portugal, and upcoming concerts in China and South America.

With a strong connection to Balkan traditions, he started the solo project “Balkan Guitar Concerts,” where he blends traditional folk music with modern elements like looping and improvisation.
His performances range from intimate solo concerts to larger ensemble collaborations, as well as pub gigs, weddings, and festivals.
Whether performing as part of a Balkan-gypsy quintet, a classical guitar orchestra, or as a “One Man Band,”
Victor brings a unique approach to each setting,
combining technical skill with a personal and dynamic style.
